Jakarta bridges gap between state and international school?

Everyone of us who are parents want our children to have the inner power to succeed in their work, their gamilies and theis lives. We want them to know they can make a difference with their lives.

With their international orientation and biligual classes, National "plus" school or RSBI (Rintisan Sekolah Berstandar International) have gained wide popularity in Indonesia.

For me, as a mother of three children, ideally, there must be a programs between state and international schools across Jakarta to minimize the gap in quality between the two.

Maybe we can try with the intercultural program as early as we can. Not for the high school only.

Why should intercultural program in kindergarten or grade 1 or 2? I think, this is a perfect time to study a new language; it gets harder to learn as we get older.

English language gives children a competitive advantage for schools, and perhaps more importantly, it helps them discover another culture and truly connect with people.

I think the educators and the parents should be encouraging students to work together for social change. For children from international school there will see local culture and national identity, what the real Indonesia children doing in the state school. They can play a lot and learn from one another.

For the Indonesia children, they will be understood why English lesson is important. Not just for rapport only but for make a chit chat with they new friend.

When they get together, they learn a lot, because now they know that all children have rights. The children will learn this by playing with other children in state school activities.

Intercultural program works with children, state and International, holding encounters in which they play and learn from one another.

They can share important topics like the rights of children, children have the right to health, education, life, to a name and nationality and espesially to equality.

This wonderful program, when used creatively, helps children to experience their own power to make a difference.
